Christmas 2016

Christmas was extra special this year because my parents flew in to spend it with us. This was the first Christmas I've spent with them since 2009 and obviously the girls first ever. To say that they were thrilled just doesn't cut it. It was probably one of the best surprises we have ever pulled off!

They were here for 9 days and we had so much fun hanging out and taking part in some of our favorite Christmas traditions together. I honestly don't think we'll ever be able top this Christmas. We made cookies, spent time at the park, and just played. It was the best.

On Christmas Eve we attended church and went out for a delicious dinner.

We always let the girls open one present on Christmas Eve. They picked their presents from their GG and they loved them. Emerson is currently Trolls obsessed and Adelyn has been asking for a cash register for months so these gifts couldn't have better.

Last year we started a new tradition of letting the girls sleep with their elves on Christmas Eve. They look forward to it all month and it's a great way to say good-bye to Cupcake and Frost.

After the girls went to bed, Santa came! Adelyn's big wish was a bike and Emerson wanted Trolls. I think they both did pretty well. :)

The girls were up at around 5:30 because they were so excited to see what Santa bought. We were riding bikes and painting before the sun was even up.

As soon as the sun was really up, we took Adelyn's bike outside for a spin.

We spent the rest of the day playing and eating, two of my favorite things!

I didn't take as many pictures as I hoped to, but I'm ok with it because it was just such a special day. Is it bad that I'm already counting down to Christmas 2017?

L Fam Monthly: December 2016

December was a fun and busy month! It started off with a big milestone for me: my 35th birthday! I swear I was just 25! We celebrated by going to church, having lunch at one of my favorite places, and eating cake, of course. It couldn't have asked for a better day.

I can't document December without sharing two of my favorite decorations: our tree and the JOY sign I made for our front porch.

The Christmas season wouldn't be complete without our annual Gingerbread building and visit to the light show at Mike's Farm

We also couldn't miss our local production of The Nutcracker. I can't wait until I can take both of my sweet girls.

We FINALLY saw the Trolls movie. Emerson has been counting down since she first saw the trailer at the beginning of the year. We all loved it!

Jesse's Marines came over for a Christmas party and we had a ton of fun. I took the opportunity to give our chalkboard a festive makeover.

I also put my Silhouette to good use for our Dirty Santa game. I mean who wouldn't want a coffee cup with their boss' face on it?

We had some pretty cold days but that didn't stop us from tricycle riding and a visit to a new park.

Jesse and I have both mentioned multiple times how big the girls seem this month. They are just growing up right before our eyes. I sure love these sweet girls.

I think the only downside of December was saying bye to Mimi and Pa. Our big girl had a really hard time with it. Adelyn told me she wishes they would move closer to our house. It's hard living so far away but it makes us extra grateful for the time we do get together.

December, you were such an awesome month and a fun way to end a pretty great year! Now bring on 2017.
