Sometimes Dancing in the Rain is More Important

10.10.2013

So today is supposed to be Day 9 of my Halloween activity series. As I promised, I do have a craft to share. But I have to be honest... I don't have a single picture of Emerson making it because I wasn't there. She made this cute little paper plate pumpkin at Moppets today.
It's very similar to something I planned on doing later this month but it wasn't our planned craft for the day. We never actually got to our craft because something pretty awesome happened. It rained. And rained. And rained some more. Our sweet girl has only seen rain 5-6 times in her life so this is actually a pretty big deal.

So today we threw our plans out the window and we used our time instead to dance in the rain.

 To jump in puddles.

And to catch big, fat raindrops on our tongues.

We topped off the perfect afternoon with a yummy cup of hot chocolate.
We didn't get to our planned fall craft, but I can assure you that our time was well spent. I get goosebumps just thinking about the pure joy that was in this little girl's heart today.
These are the moments that you can't plan for and they are also the ones that they (and we) will never forget.

Oh my gosh that looks like so much fun! We only get cold rain here in Michigan although I'm sure my kid wouldn't care. Maybe next time I'll let them play in the rain.

What a great lesson for us all to live by - 'always take time to dance in the rain!'. I LOVE the pics of Emerson sticking her tongue out trying to catch the raindrops. BEAUTIFUL!

This is one of my favorite posts you've done sweet friend. It's such an awesome thing for us all to remember- that's it's ok for plans to go out the window and just live in the moment.
