The truth is, preparations for deployment are in full swing in our house. Jesse has been packing and we've also been trying to take care of all those little last minute things that always seem to pop up. But that didn't stop us from enjoying our long weekend together!
On Thursday we hit up an outdoor mall for a little bit of shopping and lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I've heard such great things about it and I couldn't wait to try it. It definitely did not disappoint.
We were so full from our lunch that we couldn't even think about eating dessert. But don't worry, I got cheesecake to go. And yes, I think it probably was the best cheesecake I've ever had.
That evening, we decided to head into the town next to us to watch their fireworks display.
We were going to go to the park where they were holding the actual event but then I read that they were expecting 10,000 people! It's not a huge park so I was worried it might be too crowded. Instead we parked at a local shopping center that had a perfect view of the fireworks. Emerson loved it!
Friday was a day of errands and other deployment prep. We had breakfast at Chick Fil A (yummy!) and hit up Target for a few things. It was also a day for a long nap for all of us! Nothing beats an afternoon nap. :)
On Saturday we headed to Oceanside for a little boy's first birthday part. On the way we stopped for mexican food. I told Jesse we must be trying to eat our way across San Diego before he leaves. :)
Sunday was filled with more errands, hanging out at the house, and getting ready for our family pictures. We met our photographer (my beautiful friend Jamie) at the park and she got started right away. I was worried how Emerson would do, but she loves Jamie so she was awesome. I've seen one sneak peek so far and I am in love. I am just dying to see the rest.
And since Emerson was so sweet during the shoot, we took her out for frozen yogurt. She couldn't get enough! (And threw a major fit when it was time to leave- but that's a story for another day!) ;)
It was a great weekend and my only complaint is that it went by way too fast!
