4 Day Weekends Rock

Jesse had Friday and Monday off so it was an especially good weekend! It's funny how we have some weekends when we hardly do anything and then there are others where it seems like we are constantly on the go. This weekend was definitely the latter.

On Friday Jesse went to play golf with his buddies. It's the first time he's played in quite a while so he was pretty happy to get out on the course. That night we went to eat at our favorite barbecue place. I love it so much that I seriously want to eat there at least once a week. It's sooo yummy!

Saturday was a great day because we headed down to Temecula, where two of my very favorite places are located.

The first is Rosa's Cafe. This place originated in our hometown and is probably one of my favorite places to eat in the whole world. Crazily enough there is only one located outside of Texas and it just happens to be in Southern California. When we walked in I immediately felt like we were back at home.
Our next stop was the crafting mecca, Hobby Lobby. Since it's quite a drive from us, I decided to go ahead and stock up on fabric. I looked like a huge dork taking 30 bolts of fabric to the counter and I may have gotten the evil eye from the person doing the cutting, but I didn't care!

Our afternoon was spent at a two year old's birthday party. Emerson had a blast swimming in their little pool. That girl has NO fear.

On Sunday we made a trip to Lowe's to get some supplies for our back patio. We're trying to fix it up a little bit and make it more comfortable so that we will actually use it. Pictures to come soon!

The afternoon was spent in the pool. It's still freezing to me but she doesn't seem to mind one bit.

Monday was spent relaxing, working on embroidery projects, and playing with our sweet girl.

This has to be one of my favorite projects yet:

On Monday night my sweet friend Jamie invited us to Behihana to celebrate her hubby's birthday. I was worried how Emerson would do sitting that long but she did great. She was entertained by the show part of the time but we also had to supplement with Mickey a few times! :)

And that was our weekend in a nutshell. Even though it was a long weekend it went by way too fast. Seriously, where are the days going?!?

-I haven't been the best blogger. I usually get up between 5:00 and 5:30 and do my blogging and other computer stuff but a certain someone has decided that 6:00 is her new wake up time. That makes blogging quite a bit more difficult. :)

-Sweet T Kids has been keeping me busy. I appreciate all of the orders and I've been having a blast coming up with new designs.

-I've put Emerson to work. Now that's she two, I think she needs to start earning her keep. Just call her Cindereme.

-The park has become our favorite hangout.

-We've had lots of picnics.

-Chick Fil A is quickly becoming our favorite place to to visit at least once a week.

-E's birthday toys are getting lots of good use.

-Eme's little table is our new breakfast spot, just as I always hoped it would be.

-Someone learned to drive. Sort of.

-Little miss is developing such a BIG personality. When she's happy everyone knows it and when she doesn't like something, EVERYONE really knows it.  Thankfully she's happy most of the time! :)

What have you been up to lately?

Dolphins, Elmo, and Rides. Oh my!

I mentioned in yesterday's post that we wanted to take Emerson to do something special for her birthday in lieu of a party. Our original plan was to take her to Disneyland but Jesse couldn't take any week days off and I heard that it's super crowded on the weekends in May. So we decided to hold off on that and do something similar in our own backyard: Sea World!!

We had a great day and Emerson loved every second of it. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

We headed to the Sesame Street Bay of Play first thing. Even though Emerson has become more of a Mickey fan, I don't think she'll ever stop loving Elmo.
They had several rides that are made just for kids her size and she was beyond excited to see them.

She rode Elmo's Flying Fish first. Can you tell that she had a blast?

After riding all of the little rides, we headed over to watch the dolphin show. I wasn't really sure how Emerson would do but she was mesmerized. She didn't not move at all during the whole 25 minute show. It was really that awesome!

We had lunch, looked a few more animals and then went back to the Sesame Street area because they were having a character meet and greet. I knew that Emerson would be beyond thrilled to meet Elmo.

We got there early and let me tell you, the waiting part wasn't easy!
But after a few minutes, Elmo, Abby, Cookie Monster, and Ernie finally came out. The look on E's face was priceless. When it was finally our turn to go meet them she suddenly turned to me and said, "I'm scared, Momma!" I think she was afraid I was going to send her up to them alone. She wanted me to hold her, so I did.

Then we posed for a few pictures.
And, of course, we couldn't leave without buying a souvenir.

Before we left I asked Jesse to get a few pictures of us together. This is the best we got:

Our sweet girl had such a good time, but she was SO tired. She fell asleep within minutes of getting in the car.
After her nap, we had our neighbors over for cupcakes. Eme has played with them quite a bit but she's never had them over to our house. She was so excited and kept taking them around and showing them everything. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures, though!

That night we decided to go out for dinner. After our busy day, we just didn't feel look cooking. We went to a local mexican food restaurant. They had a guy walking around singing and playing the guitar so we asked him if he could sing Happy Birthday to our girl. We had no idea that they would get the whole restaurant involved and bring her a dessert.  It was really sweet!

In the end I can definitely say that Emerson had a wonderful birthday.  We really wanted her to feel special on her big day and I'm pretty sure she did.
