Throwback Thursday: The High School Years

4.11.2013

Since our items from storage arrived, I have really enjoyed going through all of our old pictures. Leaving them in storage was one of the things I regretted the most. You just never know when you're going to want to take a trip down memory lane.

And since I've been blogging one of the things I've said over and over is that I wish I would have started blogging a long time ago. So, for the next few weeks I'm going to share some old pictures and memories.

Today is none other than the dreaded high school years. Mine weren't so bad but I definitely wouldn't go back. I don't have a scanner so these are all pictures of pictures- not the best quality but they will do. These are from WAY back before digital cameras were even invented, I think. :)

The movie ticket from our first date:

One of our first pictures together:
On our first Valentine's Day we showed up with the same stuffed gorilla that each had bought for the other. From then on, Jesse bought me a gorilla for every occasion. I had quite the collection.
Junior Prom:
I cheered in junior high and my sophomore year of high school and then decided it wasn't for me.

Jesse joined the gymnastics team as a sophomore. He made it to the state finals our senior year- it was pretty impressive considering that most of the guys he competed against had been doing gymnastics since they were little kids.

Pictures from our school IDs:

During Spring Break of our Senior Year, we took a trip to San Antonio. We went to Fiesta Texas and rode the Screamin' Sky Coaster.

Senior Prom:

The day we were both baptized at the tiny little Baptist church we attended:
And this is one of my very favorite pictures- not because it's cute- but because it's funny. It's hard to see, but Jesse is pointing at a poster for the Marines and I'm saying, "NO!" I really didn't want him to enlist in the Marine Corps because I just couldn't even fathom spending three months away from him while he went to boot camp.  Thankfully he did it anyway and it has been one of the best decisions he's ever made. The Marine Corps has been good to us!
And finally, this page is taken straight from my Senior Memories book. It was a questionnaire about goals for the future.
I remember my English teacher seeing this and laughing. I'm sure she thought it was silly for a high school girl to think she would end up marrying her high school sweetheart. I may not have gotten the cherry red corvette convertible but I'd say 3 out of 4 isn't bad!

Love this post! This year will be 10 years from graduating high school and I still cannot believe it. I feel like time is flying but I am not getting older. Glad you got at least 3 of your 4 goals! :)

I didn't realize we were so close in age. I graduated HS in 2001 and those numbers in Jesse's senior pic are so familiar LOL! Love all the old pics and the questionnaire answers.
