Scenes from the Weekend

4.15.2013

We had a fun and busy weekend. I'm tired today and I wouldn't mind crawling right back into bed for a more hours. :) Here's a little bit of what we did:

We took Emerson to her first movie. Jesse got off early so we decided to try out a matinee. I about died when the ticket lady told me it was $28.00. Obviously I haven't been to a movie in a long time...

It was worth it, though!
She did pretty well but got really restless right at the last ten minutes so Jesse had to take her out to the lobby. I don't think she was quite ready to sit still that long. We'll probably wait a few months before trying again.

I belong to a few Buy-Sell-Trade pages in our area. I've been planning on getting Emerson some Little People sets for her birthday so when I saw these I knew that I had to have them. I got them all for the price of one of the dollhouses. They are in perfect condition and came with all the pieces.

When I got home from picking them up, Emerson was napping. I guess that would have been the perfect opportunity to hide them and save them for her birthday, but I just couldn't.

She was beyond thrilled and has asked to play with her "surprise" every 5 minutes. We are still waiting for our last shipment from Abu Dhabi so it's nice for her to have a few more toys to play with.

On Saturday afternoon we decided to drive down to the beach. It was cold and overcast but Emerson loved watching the surfers.
After watching the waves for a bit, we headed to Seaport Village. We walked around for a bit and then found a place to eat. We ordered an appetizer for our meal and I'm so glad that's all we ordered. It was huge (and full of way too much fried food) but still pretty good.

But Emerson's favorite part was her first visit to Ben and Jerry's.
That girl loves ice cream!
She was pretty impressed with the fire guy too. They had quite a few street performers, which is always fun!

We were early to church on Sunday so we had to wait in the car for the nursery to open. E felt like such a big girl sitting in the front seat.
She has really started to love the nursery and goes right in without a second thought. Our service on Sunday was dedicated to the launch of their spring life groups. We decided to sign up for one and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm also happy that Emerson's favorite nursery teacher will be in charge of the childcare on the nights of our life group. Double win!

We made the mistake of going to Costco after church. I thought it wouldn't be that crowded since we went to the early service and got out early, but I was wrong. It was pretty crazy in there and I don't see us doing that again.

Sunday afternoon was reserved for E's little friend's princess party. Emerson was beyond thrilled with her crown and scepter and she had a blast playing with her friends.

Right after the birthday party we rushed home to pick up Jesse so we could go to dinner. One of our dearest friends from Abu Dhabi has been stationed in California and was in town for the day. We knew we couldn't pass up an opportunity for dinner with him. Also, Emerson loves him and as soon as I said his name she talked about him the rest of the day. They say that the Marine Corps is a small world and I'm glad it is!

After our whirlwind weekend, I'm thinking Emerson and I might just hang out at home today. There's plenty of laundry to be done to keep us busy. :)

What a fun weekend! It's crossed my mind whether or not Morgan might be ready to sit for a movie, but I think I will wait a bit longer. We love all things Little People in our house! Even Joey gets into them, lol!

Movies are so expensive now a days! I can not believe what we pay when we go see one. Chad and I usually wait for the dollar theater or red box! haha!

So glad you guys had such a great weekend! I am wondering how Nolan would do at a movie...I think he would last maybe an hour? Glad to see it can be done and yes those movie tickets are so crazy even at a matinee!

Little people toys are awesome. We got C a bunch for his first birthday and the boys still play with them daily! Great find!

Looks like a great weekend and that's so great about your life group! I can't wait to take Mallory to a movie when she gets older and you are right - movie prices are crazy these days!

Hahaha you crack me up that you let her have the presents early because that is totally something I would do! I'm impressed she lasted that long in the movie - when Liam watches a real movie on tv, I think the longest he's lasted is 20-30 minutes. We will probably have to wait a bit longer to take him!

Sounds like a fun weekend! We were just discussing whether or not A was old enough to sit through a whole movie at the theatre.

E is adorable, she looks like she had lots of fun at the princess party!

Y'all did have a busy weekend! It seems like wherever you go in CA there are street performers. We love going to Santa Monica and they have lots there. Sometimes they're actually really good!
