Midweek Randoms

4.03.2013

There's nothing like a dose of randomness in the middle of the week, so here goes:

-After my post about fitness last week, I decided to go check out the YMCA in the town next to us. I had previously decided not to join because I thought the membership fees were a little steep but then I heard that they have a military rate so I had to see for myself. As soon I went on a tour, I was sold. They have a huge pool/water park and childcare is free while you are working out. The pool is outdoors but it's heated year round. I'm hoping to try it out this week.

-So far I've been to one class and to the regular gym and I have loved it. E has done great in the childcare so it's been a win-win for both of us.

-I also signed her up for gymnastics while we were there. It's a parent/child class and we've been twice so far.  She's still kind of on her own program and just wants to run all over the place and get on all of the equipment, but we are still having fun.

-I made this Oreo Layer Dessert for a dinner with friends last night. It.was.amazing.

-I ordered the Bible miniseries from Amazon and it was finally delivered. I can't wait to start watching it. Anyone seen it?

-E's first dance class is tomorrow. All of her gear came yesterday and I just about died over the cuteness when I tried it on her. What's cuter than a toddler in tap shoes and a tutu?

-On Monday I had a major mom fail and I think I'm finally recovered enough to talk about it. Emerson wanted to ride this little train at the grocery store. I set her on the seat and turned to to grab my wallet and I was turning back around I saw that she had scooted backwards up on to the back rail. Before I could get to her she fell backwards (about 3 feet) and hit her head on the concrete. She only had a small bump and only cried for a minute, but I was sick about it all day.  Talk about scary! I am just so thankful that she is ok.

-I desperately need new makeup: namely foundation and powder. I usually stick to MAC but I'm hoping to find a less pricey alternative. I need recommendations, ladies!

I guess that's it for today. Happy Wednesday friends!

That Y looks awesome. I wish we lived remotely close to one. LOL We all have those Mom fails from time to time. They are never easy to get over but just know we've all been there before.

We belonged to the Y in NC and I loved it, especially the childcare. That pool looks awesome. Scary about E's fall, but those little heads are tough (mine hit their heads for fun, I swear). Glad she is okay!

I am SUPER jealous you have a YMCA like that - I would DIE to have a water park! You guys will enjoy it so much!

It's funny you mentioned makeup - I picked up a bunch of elf makeup yesterday - I was shocked with how cheap it was and I LOVE it!

Reading about E's fall again makes my stomach turn. I would have been such a mess, like I'm sure you were.

I bet E is going to love Dance! Will you keep her in both gymnastics and dance?

Poor E, so glad she recovered just fine! Don't feel bad, we have all been there! I love the outdoor pool, so fun! Sometimes I wish we lived in a bigger town so we could join places like this! We did watch The Bible mini series on the history channel, I liked it just okay. I didn't pay as much attention during it as I should have. Eric really liked it though! As far as makeup goes, I have always liked anything by L'oreal!

Last week Mallory tripped over my feet and his the doorframe - major bruise on her head. I felt horrible - glad she's ok and glad you are ok too momma!

That Y looks awesome. The one we had back home was kinda run down but had fun classes. I swear kids between 2-5 hit their heads on purpose. J walks backwards around corners and knocks the wall. Lucky their heads seem pretty solid.

For makeup I love L'oreal a lot. It's parent company is Lacome so their stuff tends to be really good but not as expensive. I've also found some of the Ulta brand eye makeup is great. Their gel liner is my favorite!

Can't wait to see her dance stuff on her!! I know she'll be a doll! And wow that Y looks amazing!! It's way better than our Y's pool! I'm so sorry E fell yesterday. I know that's the worst feeling. :( Glad she's ok though! I seriously just bought AE that same chevron shirt today at Old Navy and I bought the matching shoes for when we go to the pool/beach this summer! lol

I saw my son sitting in his lawn chair and leaning backwards and he fell back into our ottoman before I could catch him. His head hit with a loud thump, because it was the base of the ottoman he hit. It was about the same result!!! Kids will fall, and we are there to pick them up and comfort them. We are only human! You are a wonderful mom!

Poor Emerson! Wyatt has fallen like that a few times too though, don't feel too bad! He cracked his head against the door yesterday and got a big welt - I felt terrible even though there is nothing I could have even done to prevent it! That's toddlers for ya. I only got to see part of the Bible series, I'll have to check it out on Amazon!
