Emerson has shown an interest in the alphabet since she was a little over a year old. I bought her the Leap Frog Fridge phonics soon after and she quickly learned E and O. Once I saw how interested she was I decided to learn the alphabet as well. I started showing it to her when we sang the ABCs, played with her quilted letters and when she pointed out letters in books or on signs. She also quickly became obsessed with this video and the ASL alphabet segment of Signing Time. Last week I pulled our her new ABC flash cards and I was surprised to see that she could identify most of the letters. When I did the ASL sign with the cards, she knew every one except for confusing M and N and occasionally saying J for I. She also always calls h "hen" because of the video I linked above.
Anyway, I knew I had to get it on video but I could never get her to sit still long enough. I finally figured out that putting her in the high chair would work. :) I'm sorry for the length- it took us a while to get through all of the alphabet and I dropped half of the letters which greatly concerned her!
I have to be honest- I'm pretty amazed and proud of my sweet girl! I know for certain that it is not because of anything I have done. I fully attribute it to baby signing, the Leap Frog Fridge Phonics, and E's good memory! I just hope that this means she will love to read when she gets older. I'd love for her to be a little bookworm! :)
