Life Lately

1.02.2013

We are getting closer and closer to our departure date and I am getting more and more excited with each passing day. As I've mentioned before, life is not bad here AT ALL. It's just that I'm so ready to be back on the same continent as my loved ones! At the same time I have really been thinking about how hard it is going to be to say goodbye to our friends here.  Sometimes I feel like the military life puts us in a perpetual state of good-bye!

Anyway, don't be surprised if you see lots of posts talking about our upcoming move. It's pretty much on my brain 24-7 so it will definitely be sneaking into a few blog posts now and then.

We didn't do anything special for New Year's Eve. Jesse and I decided it would just be easier to stay in.  So we watched a movie and were in bed by 11:00. We both stayed up until midnight reading though, so we actually rang in the New Year together! As I mentioned yesterday, I am so excited for 2013. The possibilities are endless and that's a great feeling!

Emerson seems to be growing and changing faster than I can keep up. Jesse mentioned to me that it seems like every time we get her out of bed in the morning or from a nap, she has learned something new. It sounds crazy but he is absolutely right. She is doing and saying so many new things- it is just amazing!
She loves being with the big kids outside and is constantly trying to ride their toys instead of her own. One of our neighbors got this little 4 wheel scooter for Christmas. Until yesterday she has always just stood on it and let us push her around. Jesse decided to try to teach her how to ride it and push herself with one foot. We were both pretty amazed when she picked it up right away. I mean, is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen? (Oh and please ignore my voice. I was obviously very excited!!) :)

Over the last few days she has started randomly calling me Mom and Jesse Dad. I have no idea where she learned it but I keep telling her to say Momma or Mommy and Daddy. I'm just not ready to be Mom yet!

Jesse had his promotion today and Emerson and I were both there to cheer him on. We got some good pictures and I hope to share them in the next few days.

I chose my first memory verse for SSMT. If you want more info, check out Beth Moore's blog here. It's not too late to join in and I'd love to have a buddy for accountability.

I thought it was perfect for my current season of life. After I chose it and wrote it in my journal, I saw it posted three other places within the same day. I'm pretty sure He was telling me that it was a good choice!

Other than that, not much has been going on with us. Emerson has had a blast playing with her new toys and Jesse and I have been talking and planning for our future. 2013 has already started off so wonderfully, I just know it's going to be an amazing year!

Liam calls me mom sometimes too and I have no idea where it came from! I love the first verse you chose - I learned that one when I did Beth's So Long Insecurity bible study and it's now one of my favorites! I think it should be in every teenage girls bedroom!

Keira started doing the same thing around E's age & I did the same thing. I wasn't ready for her to start calling me mom. It felt weird.

Glad you had a nice NYE at home. We did the same. I've been a little MIA in the blog world since I've been on break, but I'm back to work...so that means more time to blog! :) Looking forward to hearing more about your upcoming move!

They grow and learn so much at this age...it's definitely my favorite age so far. Can't wait for your big move!

I love the verse you chose, it's one of my favorites! Gracie calls me mom too sometimes, it's heartbreaking! And she started turning her head and not looking at me when she's mad. When did our girls turn into teenagers? haha
