I know I keep saying that I'm going to stop doing monthly updates as Emerson gets older. Each month I think that it will be the last but then I am so afraid that I will regret it later on. These little posts are snapshots. They're moments frozen in time. And I can't tell you how much I adore going back and rereading them. Because time is flying by and I feel like I am already forgetting the details of those early months. Luckily, I have so much of it written and captured in pictures that I can easily relive those precious moments. Thank goodness for this little old blog.
So even though my baby is not technically a baby anymore, I'm going to keep doing these monthly updates. For me and for her.
At 19 Months, Emerson:
-yells Momma over and over from her crib when she wakes up.
-asks for her bow when I get her dressed
-put her first sentence together: "Momma kiss it" She has been saying I don't know for several months but this is the first time she's put a sentence together without prompting. She fell down and hurt her knee. I asked her if she wanted me to come and kiss it and that was her response. Melt.my.heart!
-LOVES our neighbors. The first thing she does when we go outside is start asking for them by name.
-is 33 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds. Most of her 18-24 month dresses are getting too short so it looks like we'll be shopping for 2T clothes when we get home.
-hates getting dirty. If there is a speck of dirt on her hands or feet she will yell dirty over and over until I clean it off.
-loves to point out everything and tell us what it is called (tree, moon, bird, car, etc) and will keep saying it until we acknowledge her
-stands up and shows her muscles and says "tough" when she falls down (I have always told her she's ok, she's tough)
-gives hugs and kisses all day long. She will run up to me and say hug and then squeeze me around the neck
-loves to sing and has recently learned the tune to Jingle Bells
-is obsessed with watching TV. She has really loved all of the fun Christmas movies we have watched together but her favorite is still Elmo and Signing Time
-still doesn't like to be told no and will do the sign for mad pretty much every time. She will occasionally hit something or throw something. (I know it's hard to believe looking at that sweet face but it does happen. I have to try my hardest not to laugh because she still looks adorable even when she's mad)
-calls the shower "rain" and always wants it on while she's in the bath
-loves baby dolls, teddy bears, and her stuffed doggy
-says everything that she carries is heavy
-loves pushing buttons (especially on elevators) and turning lights on and off
-has had a few kicking and screaming tantrums but they are usually short lived (thank goodness!)
-enjoys books, puzzles, and blocks
-uses the potty once a day, sometimes twice
-is an excellent eater. There is not much that she won't eat. She tried radishes for the first time this month and loved them. Her favorite thing of all is pickles, just like her momma.
-asks for milk and yogurt at least 6 times a day
-is fascinated with Santa, Christmas trees, bells, snowflakes and snowmen. It has been so much fun watching her marvel at the the Christmas decorations.
-learns new things by the minute. She has become such a little sponge and she is just soaking it all in. It's a blast watching her learn and grow. She keeps us laughing and smiling all day long.
