This weekend we had the Embassy Christmas party. I was super excited for a few reasons:
1. Turkey and dressing.
2. I couldn't wait to get Emerson all dressed up.
3. I knew Santa was going to be there and I couldn't wait to get a picture of Emerson on his lap.
Once we got there I realized, to my absolute mortification, that I had forgotten Emerson's bloomers! And of course the first thing she does is go to the fence and bend right over. Nothing like a diaper hanging out of the bottom to make an outfit special. :)
But even without her bloomers, Emerson had a great time. She colored, played with the other kids, and ate about two bites of food. There was way too much going on for her to actually sit down and eat.
I did convince her to get a picture with her Momma, though.
And Daddy too!
Jesse and I took turns eating since we had no way to keep Emerson in one place while we both ate. She kept making a beeline for the pool. That girls loves to swim in any weather!
And then, FINALLY, it was the moment I had been waiting for. Santa Clause made his appearance.
Emerson wasn't sure what to think at first but as soon as he sit down she started pushing her way in front of the other kids so that she could get closer to Santa.
But then as she got right up to him she decided she was having no part of sitting on his lap and plopped herself right down on the floor in front of him.
Once Jesse put her on Santa's lap she immediately wanted down.
She didn't cry but I'm quite certain she would have if we would have made her stay there.
As soon as Jesse got her down she took off running. Then she watched with apprehension as the other kiddos sat on Santa's lap.
I don't think she's scarred for life or anything but it took her awhile to get back to her smiling self.
Since she was still a bit shell shocked and actually being still for a minute I thought it would be a good time to try for a family picture.
I guess it's safe to say that baby girl was not a fan of Santa, at least not close up. Even still, we had a great night. It was laid back and casual, which is my favorite kind of party.
