Happy Lately

11.20.2012

I want to share a few things that have made me happy lately:

-Our neighbor has a daughter that is about 6 months older than Emerson and a few days ago she asked me if I'd be interested in some of the clothes/shoes she has outgrown. Of course I said yes! I was absolutely shocked when she brought over a box full of clothes and 8 pair of shoes that look like they have never been worn. They are all size 6-7 so E can't wear them just yet but I am so stinkin' excited! I offered to pay her because the shoes are all name brand (Stride Rite, Skechers, New Balance) but she said no. What a fun blessing, huh? Emerson is obsessed with the sparkly Stride Rite mary janes and the Skechers Twinkle Toes. She wants to wear them NOW! :)

-One of my other neighbors (and dear friend) moved last week (boo! We miss you Lauren!) and offered to sell us their practically new Keurig for a ridiculously amazing price. She knew ours had quit and I was so pumped when she offered to sell it to me (its the exact same one we had before.) They also threw in tons of K-Cups (those alone were worth more than what we paid them.) Yay for fast, yummy coffee again.
Yes, we have awesome neighbors!! Our neighborhood is probably the number one thing I'm going to miss about this place.

-A friend and I finally went to check out the big fabric store we've been hearing about. I've been relying on scraps that I brought with me so I was so excited to actually buy real fabric. The best part? They had some cute Christmas fabric.
I already know exactly what I'm going to make with the adorable red and white striped fabric. Yay!

-I am almost done buying all of the ingredients for Thanksgiving cooking this year. We are not hosting but we are making the turkey and tons of side dishes. I'm praying that everything turns out okay.

-The weather has been amazing lately. We sat outside for dinner the other night and I actually got a little chilly. I had to laugh when I looked at the temperature and found that it was in the low 80's. I guess we've been in a warm climate for too long. :)

-The best part, though, is that I think it's finally cool enough for Emerson to wear her little pink peacoat in the evenings. I tried it on her today and I about died over the cuteness. (Yay for Target clearance! I knew it would eventually come in handy.)

-I turned on my sewing machine for the first time in almost a year so that I could finally try my hand at making a pillowcase dress. It's definitely not perfect (especially the inside) and I learned a few lessons for the next one, but I still LOVE the way it turned out! They are so easy and I think I might be addicted now...
-I am about 95 percent done with E's Christmas shopping. I can't wait to see her face when she wakes up on Christmas morning. Now I just need to get in gear and get everyone else's done.

What has made you happy lately?

Love the pillowcase dress!! You did a great job! I am hoping to get an embroidery machine also. Did you have a hard time getting use to it or is it hard to use?

Gracie loves getting new shoes too! I'm loving Emerson's adorable pea coat. I almost bought GG a red one yesterday at Target, but decided against it because she already has way too much {if there is such a thing}. Her pillowcase dress turned out so cute! They ARE super easy to make, do you have a serger?? Best thing I ever bought!

Oh my cuteness! Over everything - the shoes, the clothes, your craftiness. You seriously should open an etsy shop, you have some skills!
