A Year and a Half

11.19.2012

When Emerson was first born people would often tell me to enjoy every minute because it goes by so fast. And oh were they right! Time just keeps going by faster and faster and my sweet little baby just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Yesterday, on November 18th, she turned18 months old. One year and a half. I'm still kind of in denial...

I remember seeing 18 month olds when Emerson was tiny and thinking that they seemed so big and now here we are. In a blink of an eye, she is one of them!

Over the last 18 months I have learned so much but I think the most important thing I have learned is that love knows no bounds! Just when I think that I can't love that little girl any more, my heart expands just a little bit and my love continues to grow. It's such an amazing blessing and I am so thankful.

Instead of doing a traditional list of milestones this month, I thought I'd just list a few bullet points of things I want to remember. Of course, I've also added a million few pictures too. :)

At 18 Months, Emerson:

-Wears Size 4 diapers, Size 5 shoes, and 12-24 month clothes.

- Loves music, singing, and dancing. Her favorite thing to do right now is for me to sing a song and to stop every so often and let her fill in the words

-Is obsessed with trains and airplanes

-Wants to be outside as much as possible and prefers walking around the neighborhood to playing on the playset

-Will eat just about anything and LOVES condiments. Give that girl some mustard, ketchup, or hummus to dip her food in and she is one happy girl.

-Yogurt is her favorite, especially the drinkable kind.

-Jumps up and down with joy when she sees her Daddy is home.

-Loves to say no in a joking way. If we ask her if she wants something she'll say noooo while scrunching up her face and laughing.

-Will sit and listen to book after book and also likes to look at her books on her own. I pray that she always loves to read!

-Enjoys pretend play. She will cook in her kitchen, wash her hands in the little sink, and feed her babies/stuffed animals.

-Loves to color.

-Has a great memory. She can fill in words if I stop reading in most of her favorite books. It's hilarious!

-Obsessed with shoes. Hers, mine, and even Daddy's. It doesn't matter. She loves them all!

-Talks to everyone, everywhere we go. She hasn't gotten so used to people asking her name and how old she is that now when someone says hi to her she immediately responds with, "Eme, one!)

-Loves to give kisses and hugs.

-Still head over heels for Elmo.

-Has a stubborn side and has not been afraid to show it over the last month. She gets her feelings hurt easily and does not like to be told no. We've had a few tantrums here and there but thankfully they don't last very long.

-Loves to make people laugh. If she does something that you think is funny she will keep doing it over and over to get you to laugh.

There's so much more- I swear I could go on and on for pages. I guess I'll just stop there and say that we are simply amazed by this precious girl. She is growing and learning every single day and we are so proud to be her parents. She is such a joy to us!

 (showing her muscles)

She needed all of her babies to come downstairs to have breakfast with her.

And, since I haven't posted a video in a while, I thought I'd share this one of E singing You Are My Sunshine.  Unfortunately you have to hear me sing in order to hear her. I apologize in advance! Ha! :) Also, the video keeps going for another minute afterwards because I'm too lazy to edit it. Feel free to skip over the end. :)

She's such a mess! But oh boy do we love her!

Happy half birthday baby! We love you to the moon and back!
