Time to Face the Music

8.23.2012

Remember this post where I shared my baby weight loss story? And remember how I said that I thought that I had finally found the perfect balance of eating somewhat healthily and working out regularly. Well now I'm eating my words because I have completely and utterly fallen off of the weight loss bandwagon. I had really good intentions of working out while I was in Texas and I even brought some of my workout videos with me. Unfortunately, my laziness took over and I didn't do a single second of working out unless you count chasing my wild girl around.

Needless to say, my constant indulgence in delicious mexican food and my failure to break a sweat led to the inevitable. I gained back 5 whole pounds! And along with those 5 lbs came a lovely muffin top and too tight jeans. Boo! :(
I know that 5 pounds isn't really too bad but overall I just feel yucky and out of shape. In fact, I kind of feel like I'm back where I started in January. I hate that I ruined all of my progress in just a few short months.

For the first week that I was back here I was so jet lagged and tired from E waking up that I knew working out wasn't an option. This week I really haven't had any excuse but I still haven't worked out. Next week, however, playtime is over. I have to get my rear back in gear, my friends. Not to mention that I signed up for a half-marathon and it takes place in exactly 11 weeks!! And I haven't run a single mile in, oh I don't know, 3 months!! Yikes!!

So anyway, I'm sure you get my drift. I'm disappointed in myself for being such a slacker and I feel gross from all of the junk food that's passed through my lips so it's time to get back into my healthy groove. Here's my plan:

1. Get back to using good ol' My Fitness Pal. I'm not sure exactly how many calories I need to lose or maintain so the first few weeks will be an experiment. My username is littlemoments11 if you want to be friends. I need all of the encouragement I can get!

2. Workout. Duh. I'm shooting for 4-5 days a week and plan to do a mixture of running and videos. I know I'm going to die during those first few workouts but I'm hoping that whole muscle memory thing is true and my body can pick up where I left off.

3. Eat healthy. By healthy I don't just mean counting calories, though I will do that too. I want to try eat as cleanly as possible while still enjoying the occasional treat. I'm going to shoot for clean eating 80 percent of the time.

4. Drink water. I am really bad about this for some reason but I am making it a point to do better.

My biggest roadblock is finding the time to workout. I can't run during the day because I can't take E to the gym with me and it's WAY too hot to run outside. So, that means I either have to do it when Jesse gets home for work or first thing in the morning before he leaves. Since I really hate working out in the evening, I'm going to shoot for early AM workouts. I know it won't be fun to get up super early and workout but I think I'll get used to it after a few days. I also hope that it will help me feel more energetic throughout the day.

So, guys, that's my big confession for the week. I have been lazy and yucky all summer and I.am.done. Time to get back into shape.

You can do this! Drinking water will really help! I drink about a gallon a day and can totally feel the difference when I don't!

Thats great that you signed up for a half marathon! It's totally doable in 11 weeks, what plan are you following? I want to start a weight loss plan so bad but I said I would give it a few weeks with baby before I started working on it!

I know what you mean. 5 lbs may not be a whole lot but it sure can FEEL more like 20 lbs! Good luck with your goals!!

I do feel like muscle memory is true. The first couple of workouts will suck but after that you'll feel like your old self.

Do they not have a child center at the gym? I take Hadley and Gunner almost everyday. Hadley loves it and asks to go every day.

Good luck!

I did the same thing this summer except mine was closer to 10 pounds. Yuck:(. It's amazing how 5 pounds can make you feel even though it doesn't sOund like much! I'm back to using my fitness pound and have lost 4 of the 10 pounds. I'm just so mad at myself for losing all that baby weight and then letting myself gain 10 pounds!!! I figure I'll take baby steps and start working out again in a few weeks:). Good luck to you!

Girl, I feel you! We have been in pseudo spring break mode all summer. With visitors and town and traveling, there has been so much wine drinking and eating out. We start clean eating/no alchol/workout today! I feel so gross. I love all your tips for staying on track!

Ah I need to find inspiration! Between chasing EC around/dealing with the dogs/and home improvement when I have a spare moment the last thing on my mind is working out! Hopefully when it cools off that will change! :-) Good luck and keep us posted! You can do it!
