Now I Sew My ABCs

8.17.2012

One of the things I was most excited to get home to (besides Jesse, of course) was my new embroidery machine. I could not wait to get my hands on it and try it out.

When I finally unpacked it and got it all set up, I knew exactly what my first project was going to be. Ever since Emerson got the Leap Frog fridge phonics, she has been obsessed with letters. I taught her the letters E and O and she goes around calling every letter she sees either E or O. They are interchangeable to her! Ha! Anyway, since she seems to love letters so much, I decided to make her her very own set of fabric ABCs.  I used this appliqué pattern and worked on a few each day. They were really easy to make but pretty time consuming. I finally finished today and I am so excited at how they turned out!!

I would eventually like to make a little drawstring bag to store them, but for now this little bucket from Ikea is doing the trick.
Once I was finished with them, I couldn't wait to show them to Emerson. Sometimes I think she is going to love something and she's not a fan so I was anxious to see how she would react. Luckily, she loves them! So much so that she kept trying to grab them while I took pictures! :)

One project down, many, many more to go! Now I just have to decide what to start next.

What a great first project! Do you think you'll put magnets on the back or just leave them as fabric for her to do what she wants with them? I love all the patterns you chose!

OH MY GOSH, how adorable! I bet they were super time consuming though, I can't even imagine! This makes me not want to sew for other people so I can start making G stuff again, ha! What machine did you get?
