Just A Bunch of Randoms

5.23.2012

-Emerson and I are both getting a little bit of cabin fever. With the heat, we really have to limit our outside time and there is only so much we can do to stay entertained inside. We found a free splash park (LOVE!) and we have also tried out one of the indoor soft play areas at the mall (also awesome!). At this point we're trying to find anything to do to just get out of the house for a few hours.

-Remember that long post I wrote last week about losing the baby weight and how I talked about my consistent workout routine? Well I think I might have jinxed it because I have been a total slacker for the last week. I need to get my motivation back ASAP.

-I feel like my brain is slowly turning to mush. I haven't finished a real book in months and the only thing I really read these days is children's books, blogs, and the occasional magazine. I need to find a good book to read and actually make time to read it.

-I've been tutoring my neighbor's son twice a week for the last 3 weeks and I have really enjoyed it! He's a first grader and that is my absolute favorite age to work with in reading. It has made me miss teaching just a *tiny* bit but not enough to go back. :)

-We are officially counting down the days until our trip home. I am so looking forward to seeing our families/friends and the change of scenery! It should make for a very fun summer. I feel like it just can't come fast enough.

-I made this Berry Cobbler recipe that I found on Pinterest yesterday. It is delicious and so incredibly easy! But it did remind me why I never make desserts. I.can't.stop.eating.it.
-Our first baby, sweet Oscar, is very sick. He has a mass near his heart and lungs and they believe that it is cancer, though the biopsy was inconclusive. At this point he is still pretty much acting like himself but he is slowing down quite a bit and slowly losing weight. We have decided that we don't want to do any kind of invasive treatment due to his age (11-12 years) but we are heartbroken that we are most likely going to lose out sweet boy. I am just so thankful that we made the decision to leave him with my parents. They are taking such wonderful care of him and love him just as much as we do. Please say a prayer for our handsome boy!

Poor Oscar, I've grown up with Schnauzers and have one still. I hope you still get to make many more memories with him. The splash park sounds like a lot of fun, and I imagine it is hard to find activities to do with little ones during the hot summer months.

We are so counting the days until you get here. Oscar is still doing ok. He is such a sweet boy. Gracie seems to know that he is not well. E is such a big girl.
I am going to Maddi's field day. I love field day. Love you.

I'm so sad about your sweet boy. :( I'm sure you're even more anxious to get back home. Praying for y'all.

I know how frustrating the high temperatures can be. It's good that you've been able to find some fun things to do despite the heat. :)

I hear you about the heat...well not yet technically but I know it's coming! And I was pregnant in Texas last summer during THE hottest summer on record! I'm glad y'all have found a fun splash zone for her! She is too cute in her little hat and swim shoes. Precious.

We just made the Pioneer woman's crumbly lemon bars today and I agree. There is a reason I don't bake so much too ;-) I've eaten a ton so far!
