Two Years Ago...

4.26.2012

On April 26, 2010 I wrote my very first blog post. We had been in Africa for just a few short weeks and had no idea what was in store for us!
We didn't know that we would find fun things to do in a third-world country or that we would take weekend trips to the beach.

We didn't know that we would develop new hobbies and interests or that we would make lifelong friendships.
We didn't know just how much we would miss our dogs and all of the little things that we take for granted in the U.S.
We didn't know that we would get to travel to so many fun places like South Africa and Germany.

And we certainly had no idea that we would find out I was pregnant just a few short months later!
As our time went on there, we celebrated birthdays and Christmas, and excitedly and unexpectedly found out that we were having a darling baby girl.
When I wrote that first post I never dreamed that I would be leaving less than a year later to get ready for the birth of our sweet Emerson.

We could have never guessed that Jesse would miss our girl's birth by just one day or that saying good-bye to him just two weeks later would be so heartbreaking.

And of course we had no clue that we could love such a tiny little person so very much or that she would completely steal our hearts from the moment we laid eyes on her.
We couldn't have predicted that our munchkin would be such a great little traveler or that we would adjust to life in the Middle East, despite the cultural differences.
We never would have thought that we would make such a wonderful life in a foreign country, meet so many amazing people, or experience such neat things.
When I started this little old blog two years ago, we just didn't know where life would take us. But I am thrilled to say that it has been better than we could have ever imagined! God has blessed us beyond measure and we are so, so thankful.
And do you want to know the best part of all? I have it all documented right here so that we will never, ever forget!
