Top 10 Baby Essential 6-9 Months

4.04.2012

Each time I have compiled these lists it's become apparent to me just how much they can vary from person to person. While these are *my* top 10 essentials, someone else might find that they could easily live without all of these things. That being said, here are the things that we loved from 6-9 months. You will see that many of them are food related because we introduced solids at 6 months. :) You can read more about how we made E's baby food here.

1. Uppa Baby G-Luxe Umbrella Stroller

I am not exaggerating a bit when I tell you that switching to an umbrella stroller changed my life! I absolutely love this thing and Emerson seems so much more comfortable in it. I love that it is so light and it is incredibly easy to open and close. It reclines easily and the sun shade has great coverage. All of my research on strollers was well worth it because I LOVE this stroller! My only regret is that we didn't get one sooner!

2. Leap Frog Learn and Groove Musical Table

This is one of Emerson's favorite toys. The legs come off so it can be used before your baby is able to pull up and then it is the perfect height once they are able to stand. Every time we have kids over they are instantly attracted to this thing!

3. Munchkin Might Grip Straw Cups

These are my favorite cups because they are so easy for E to drink out of and they don't leak. The straws come off of the lids so they are easy to clean. We tried several sippy cups with spouts but Emerson just didn't seem to like them as much. I love these straw cups because she doesn't have to tip them up to drink out of them.

4. V-Tech Sit To Stand Learning Walker

Before Emerson was able to walk behind this she loved sitting in front of it and playing with it. Now she loves to push it around all over the place. It's also another toy that older kids seem mesmerized by. I think we will get lots of use out of it even after she is does walking with it.

5. Munchkin Inflatable bathtub
This is the ideal size for a baby who has outgrown an infant tub but is not quite ready for the big bathtub.

6.  Munchkin Soft Tip Spoons

We tried a few other spoons but these are my favorite because of the soft tip. It makes it so much easier for Emerson to actually get the food off of the spoon.

7.  Munchkin Stay Put Suction Bowls

These are perfect when you start letting your baby self-feed because they can't throw them on the floor.  I also like that they have lids so you can use them to store food as well.

8. Where is Baby's Belly Button (book)

Emerson is loving lift-the flap books right now and this is one of her very favorites! I love it because each page focuses on a different body part and also directional words like under, behind, etc.

9. Gerber Puffs
Once Emerson got used to eating solids, I wanted to give her a chance to practice her pincer grip with finger foods. I love these puffs because they are the perfect size for her to grip and they dissolve quickly.

10.  Infant to Toddler Swing
This is not the exact swing we have, but we do have one that is designed for infants-toddlers and it is probably one of the best purchases we've made. Emerson loves it and we use it on a daily basis. It may not be a must but it sure is fun to have!

These are just some of the things that are used on a daily basis in our house. There are also quite a few things from my other lists that are still used regularly. Overall I feel like we've had pretty good luck with all of the baby items we've purchased.

Go here for my 0-3 month list and here for my 6-9 month list and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! :)

I really REALLY need to try suction bowls. Gracie always picks up her bowl and dumps it on her tray. If I can prevent that it would be amazing. And I agree that the musical table was great!

New follower here! Love the blog. Emerson is a doll and my must-have list would have been about the same when Drew was that age. Puff's were GREAT for flights and other areas where we needed to distract him, but not fill him up too much with snacks!

Georgia has those same bowls and throws them all over the place...I guess every baby is different! haha :)

great post! Love the walker. great for them to cruise all over. Grant doesnt get the concept of sucking out of a straw. Any tips for me? The sippy cup with the nipple type sicker is leaking all over!

I have not heard of those bowls-gonna have to get some of those when C starts feeding herself!
WE have that swing and Callyn LOVES it-she would swing all day long! I have been wanting an umbrella stroller, too. Seems so much easier than hauling out the giant one every time we go anywhere!

Great post! You've given me some great ideas for toys for Blaire.

Question on the puffs - how old was Emerson when she learned to feed herself puffs? We started giving B puffs about a week ago and she can't figure out how to pick them up and get them in her mouth. She can scoop them up into her palm but can't get them to her mouth. I need to research if there's a way to teach her other than putting puffs in front of her or if it's just something she'll learn.

Great top 10. I have bought 4 of those tables to give as gifts. That bathtub as always been a favorite. I have no kids of my own, but my mom has a in home daycare, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 3 god-daughters(twins and their younger sister).
