Another Fun Weekend

Happy Monday y'all! We had a wonderful weekend and I hope you did too!

Our little block party went well and we all had a lot of fun. I think a few people may have had a little too much fun but that's a whole other post. :)

At our compound playground there is a small swing set that has a little fort attached to it. Emerson loves to stand at the door and watch the other kids play. That night she stood there for at least 20 minutes talking to herself and watching everyone around her.

While I followed her around, Jesse did the grilling for everyone.  We made chicken, stuffed mushrooms, and cheese dip. It was all delicious and I ate way too much! :)

We even hired a babysitter for the evening. Well- sort of. After I got Emerson to bed I paid our teenage neighbor to come sit at the house while we hung out by the pool area. Of course E was having so much fun at the party she didn't really want to come home and go to bed. She cried on and off for about 30 minutes before I was finally able to get her to sleep. It was nice to be able to stay out a little later than normal, even if we were just 50 feet from our house. Maybe one of these days I'll get brave enough to actually leave the compound while E is with a babysitter. Or not.

On Saturday Jesse had to go into work for a little while and Emerson and I went to a birthday party.
Sweet little Leah is one year old and her Mom threw her such a nice party. There were a few other babies there and it was funny to watch them all. They didn't really play together and most of us spent the whole time chasing our babies around the house.

I really wanted to get a picture of the babies together but that just wasn't happening. We did have a lot of fun though and it really motivated me to get started on Emerson's party planning.

The party was right in the middle of E's afternoon nap so she passed out as soon as we got home. I think all of that partying really wore her out. I guess it wore me out too because I did something I never do and also took a little nap. I usually feel terrible after napping but I actually felt pretty good when I got up. Maybe I need to do that more often....

Emerson and I stayed home yesterday and hung out and played. I rarely go anywhere on Sundays because I like to let E get back into her routine and I usually use the day to get caught up on laundry and other fun stuff like that.

Unfortunately, I didn't get quite as much laundry done as I planned because we had way too much fun playing.  Now I'm surrounded by a mountain of clothes that need to be folded. Thankfully I have a wonderful little helper who loves doing laundry. And by doing laundry I mean taking all of the folded clothes out of the basket and throwing them on the floor.

How else?

Sounds like you had such a fun weekend! And I totally get you on the babysitter thing - we have lots of friends and family who are always asking when they get to babysit. We just don't do anything and feel leaving C to work is enough, so he's only been watched twice, both times by my parents. I'm sure some day we'll be ready to do more, but not yet :)

sounds like you had a great weekend. I've never left the girls with anyone except family, I don't think I'd be able to. I love that picture of you and Emerson.

Sounds like a great weekend! Wouldn't be awesome to have a nanny all the time time to be at the house while they napped so we could relax or run errands? That would be so great :)
