Life Lately

1.30.2012

It's been hectic the last few weeks but I feel like things are finally slowing down a little bit. Here's a few random tidbits from our life lately:

We had a dear friend that we met in Burundi come stay with us last week and we had so much fun hanging out with her. We wanted to get some beach days in but it was actually pretty chilly so we did some shopping and a lot of eating.  It was so nice to have someone to talk to and hang out with during the day. I miss her already!

Emerson has grown by leaps and bounds even since I wrote her 8 month post last week. She is now crawling on her hands and knees a little bit, though she still prefers low crawling. She has learned to sit up by herself from a laying down position and she can pull herself up on her musical table without any help. Yesterday I laid her down for a nap and she was super quiet so I figured she had gone to sleep. All of the sudden I heard her fussing so I knew something had to be up. When I went in her room, this is what I saw:

She was pretty darn proud of herself, though she didn't know how to get back down. She did figure that part out today and can get up and down like an old pro. Needless to say, naps have been a bit more difficult now that she has figured that little trick out! :)

After tons of research I have finally decided on a big girl carseat. Injuries from traffic accidents are the number one cause of death here so we really wanted the safest seat possible. That's also why we bought our tank of a car. I ended up going with the Britax Advocate 70 CS. It was pretty pricey but since we only have one car we only have to buy one seat for now so it's not too bad.

I still haven't decided on an umbrella stroller. I want one that is super lightweight but also good quality. I forgot to mention that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the stroller that came with our Chicco travel system. It's a nice stroller but it is pretty heavy and bulky and it's hard to get it through the narrow aisles in stores here. We're going to keep it because it was great with the carseat and hopefully we'll be able to use it again with future little ones.  But now that E will be moving to a convertible car seat, I want a lightweight stroller for everyday use. My plan is for this to be the last stroller we buy and I know the only way that is going to happen is if we get a good quality one. I'd really love the Bumbleride Flite or the Uppa Baby G-Luxe. Any opinions on either of these? Or should I go with the trusty Maclaren? Or are there any more reasonably priced ones out there that will hold up? I mean honestly, it's hard to imagine paying $150 or more for an umbrella stroller!

Have I ever mentioned that I'm a bit indecisive? Haha. :)

I finally broke down and subscribed to E-Mealz. I went with the Low-Fat meal plan for two. This is our first week following it and it has been great so far. The recipes are super easy and they have been surprisingly good. The best part is that it comes with a printable grocery list. I HATE making the grocery list so this is awesome for me.

I found a coupon code for new subscribers so it made the subscription come to about 4.65 a month. You really can't beat that! I think the only obstacle will be finding some of the ingredients. Our grocery store will randomly stop carrying stuff sometimes so that can be a pain but I'm sure I'll be able to figure out some substitutions. I'll update you guys in the next few weeks and let you know if we are still liking it.

Yesterday we went to a golf tournament and we got to see Tiger up close and personal. I'm not a huge golf fan but it was still pretty neat. I have a lot fun pictures so look for a full post on that in the next few days.

I am still really loving My Fitness Pal. It's so easy to keep track of my meals and exercise and it's fun having friends to cheer you on. If you want to be friends on MFP, my username is littlemoments11. The more the merrier! :)

Speaking of, I really need to get my workout in so I guess this is enough rambling for one day.  I hope I haven't bored you to death with my randomness. :)

Happy Monday friends!

Gosh, she's such a cute BIG girl! And I've been hearing all about the e-mealz lately. I'm thinking I'm going to have to try it out!

I love her car seat, it's so cute. I loved it when G would start standing up in her crib. Eventually, she would start jumping up and down when she saw us and it's the cutest thing! I have a subscription to E-meals and I never use it, I don't remember it for some reason. I need to log in and check out their recipes before I go to the store this week

This is the small stroller that I love for shopping. It's much narrower and lighter than the travel system stroller. It's easy to fold up and I can put in the back of the car with one hand. It's not exactly an umbrella stroller but it's small. I'm on the hunt for small, light, narrow double stroller. I'm not sure those exist.

LOVE that picture of Emerson! So cute!

We've been doing e-meals for a few weeks now and we really like it. We're doing the low carb since we had already started eating that way before subscribing. It is making me cook more and I'm actually enjoying it. I love not having to think about what to make.

I'm glad you are getting all of this carseat, etc. stuff all researched and figured out...that way I won't have to do any of the work when it is time to get Holden one! Haha ;)

I just requested you on MFP. I need some major motivational help! I am in such a slump. :(

Awww so cute! They are so funny when the learn to do that in the crib. I have the Volvo Triumph Maclaren stroller and am very happy with it. Very lightweight but has some padding for the kiddo.

Emerson is getting so big! Soon you'll be planning her party, or have you already started? :) I love E-mealz but I do substitute some Pinterest meals for the meals that I know we won't eat.

Look at that adorable baby girl standing up all by herself!!!! She is just precious!! And you are not going to believe this, but that is the SAME car seat we decided on for Ann Elise!! We haven't bought it yet (waiting for her b'day!), but I shopped and shopped around and this is the one we loved! :)

I'm with you-there are some things I can't bring myself to cheap out on, and car seats are one of them. We have the Britax Boulevard and are really happy with it! We also have the Uppa Baby Vista, which we love, but I've heard not so great things about their umbrella strollers. I'd love to know if you find a great one since we are still in the market for one! I'm interested in the e-z meals, too!

How cool that you got to see Tiger! I'm not a fan, either, but it's always fun to "meet" celebrities!

She looks like such a big girl standing up like that! Good for her for figuring out how to get down - Liam hasn't tried it since his first scary incident :)

I have a Chicco umbrella stroller - I was down between that one and a MacClaren and I went for the Chicco bc it was cheaper :) It works great, I love it!

I just added you on myfitnesspal and I admit I also love it! My username is amw211 if you were wondering:)

We have not gotten a umbrella stroller yet as we dont use the stroller we have a lot right now but Im thinking about buying one this summer when Im home all the time so would love to hear your input on which one you decide on.

We have a Britax and love it. We didnt get that one but couldnt be happier with it.

I have thought about doing Emealz but wondered how the meals were and if it was worth the price of it.

We have the Bumbleride and LOVE it. I can't remember the model name but it is the one right below the jogging stroller. It is light but has enough room & storage and I like that the seat back goes all the way flat.
