Happy Birthday Marines!

11.07.2011

A few nights ago, we celebrated the 236th Birthday of the Marine Corps!

We’ve been to many Marine Corps Balls over the years, but this one was quite different for us for many reasons.

This year, Jesse and his 6 Marines were in charge of coordinating the entire ball with a guest list of 500 people. They have been working for months to finalize each tiny little detail. From the menu to security- they have done it all.

The ball was held at the amazing Emirates Palace and I don’t think there could have been a better( or more extravagant) venue. It is simply stunning!

We sat at the head table, along with the Ambassador (our Guest of Honor) and the honored guest and his wife. Aside from next year’s ball, it’s not likely that we will get an opportunity like that again.

Jesse escorted the Ambassador and the honored guest and also did their introductions. I was very proud of him- he’s becoming quite the pro at public speaking.

Once the ceremony was over, it was time for the guys to let loose and relax a little bit. Of course that meant posing for a few pictures as well!

Luckily, everything went off without a hitch.  I was also relieved because Emerson’s first night with a babysitter was successful. Of course, she was in our hotel room only a few floors up and I was able to check on her a couple of times. It was the perfect setup and we both made it through just fine! Smile

I know Jesse is so relieved to have the ball done with. We both enjoyed it but I have to be honest and tell you that the best part about the ball was getting to stay at the Emirates Palace. It is simply beautiful and worthy of it’s own post. Check back tomorrow for all of the details and pictures.
