Miscellaneous Musings

10.24.2011

As usual, we didn’t do anything too exciting this weekend. Lately, we’re ecstatic just to sleep in! Smile Jesse has been really busy with work so we haven’t really gotten a chance to get out and see what the city has to offer. Things should start slowing down for him in December and then we’ll be able to get out and explore a little bit more.

-I did finally go and get my hair done. I told the girl that I’m trying to grow it out so she just trimmed the ends. I didn’t end up getting bangs but I do have some long layers in the front that she trimmed, so I can sort of make those look like side swept bangs. I didn’t get as much blonde either- hopefully I’ll be able to stretch out the color for a while.  Like everything else here, it was crazy expensive so I definitely won’t be going every six weeks! I thought getting it trimmed would make me wear it down more but no such luck. I can’t stand my hair in my face so it’s just easier to put it back. Oh well…

-I found a huge pumpkin at one of the grocery stores and I was so pumped! I thought it would be so cute to put E in for pictures. However, my dreams of pumpkin cuteness were destroyed when I got to the checkout and they told me the pumpkin would be $65.00. Yeah- that’s not happening. I guess this is as close as we’re getting to anything pumpkin related.

-The Marine Corps ball is just a few weeks away and I have been seriously stressing about childcare for Emerson. She has never stayed with anyone but my parents and I am super picky. Luckily, one of my friends, who also has an infant, has agreed to let me borrow her nanny for the night. She’s a nurse and has tons of experience with babies so I feel pretty good about it. She’s coming over tomorrow for a trial run. I’m going to stay home the first time she keeps her just to see how it goes. Wish us luck!

-After almost a week in her crib, Emerson is finally getting back to her normal sleep schedule. She’s been going to bed between 9:00 and 10:00 and she has been sleeping through the night again. Hallelujah! She has, however, found a new sleep position that she just seems to love. Mommy- not so much. Thank God for the Snuza or I would never get any sleep.

-The weather was so nice this weekend. It’s still pretty hot in the afternoon but the mornings and the evenings are so much better. It really makes me want to get outside and run. After hours of research, I’ve finally decided on a jogging stroller. While I’d love a BOB, I just can’t justify spending $500.00 on a jogging stroller.  So, I’ve made up my mind to go with the Joovy Zoom 360. It has good ratings and seems like it will be perfect for our needs. I can’t wait until it gets here so E and I can hit the road!

-Even though there aren’t any pumpkin patches here and it doesn’t feel like Fall at all, I can’t wait to put Emerson in all her cute Halloween outfits.  We have two Halloween parties to go to so she will have ample opportunity to show off her costume- made my Mimi, of course.  Here’s a little hint at what she’s going to be…

That's not much of a hint haha!!! Excited to see what you think of your new jogging stroller, as I'm really wanting the Bob, but hate how expensive it is...

Ellie loves to sleep with her face in the corner of her crib agains her bumpers. Stressed me out at first but I know if I move her she will just shimmy her way back to the corner haha. Silly babies!!! She is so adorable, can't wait to see her Halloween costume!

Walker has also started rolling to his belly to sleep. It freaks me out but I don't think I can stop him! He has been sleeping a million times better though.

Yeah, I would have said "not in this lifetime" either to that expensive pumpkin! :) That's insane! You'll love the Joovy stroller. We don't have the jogging stroller, but we do have the "sit and stand" version that is made by Joovy and we LOVE it! It's an awesome brand! Hope things go great with the nanny! E will be just fine and it sounds like she'll be in great hands, too! Wish we were there to keep that sweet baby girl! And I can't wait to see her costume!! It looks like butterfly wings! ;)

I cannot believe the price of the pumpkin! GROSS! LOVE her hat, though! That's adorable! Good luck with the nanny! I can completely understand being picky...I have a feeling I'm going to have to really fight the battle of "no one other than family is good enough". Especially having to go back to work... Whew. Will fight that battle when it's here! :)
