  • I completely forgot to post Bye Bye Baby Weight yesterday. As I’m sure you can guess I had nothing to report this week. No weight lost and no weight gained…

  • We STILL don’t have a car. We had to sell our car when we moved here because they don’t allow imports older than 5 years. Our plan was to buy something as as soon as we got here. Here we are 6 weeks later and we are still carless. Who knew buying a car here would be so darn difficult!  Jesse has a work vehicle that he has been able to drive in the meantime but I’ve had to rely on taxis if I want to go anywhere during the day. Not so fun trying to get a carseat and a stroller in a taxi.  This weekend we finally found a car that we love and we are closing the deal on Thursday BUT we won’t be able to drive it for at least two more weeks because we have to wait for it to get registered. I’ve finally decided that I’ve had enough of taxis and we are renting a car today- to the tune of…. $200.00 per week. It’s got to be the world’s most expensive Hyundai. It’s worth it though- I will FINALLY be able to drive myself to the grocery store.

  • We still haven’t really met very many people here.  It’s such a big place so the embassy community is not nearly as tight-knit as it was Bujumbura. So, not only am I carless, I am also friendless.  I’ve found some Mom’s groups to join so hopefully that will help. I’ll post more about that later this week.

  • Emerson’s nursery is coming along nicely. It is SO different than what I originally planned but I am loving it so far. Hopefully it will done before she turns one. Haha. Here’s a sort of sneak peek:

week 16 and 17 010

  • Speaking of Emerson, she is growing up way too fast for this Momma! She will be 4 months old next week and she has learned so many new things in the last month. She amazes me every single day. Of course, she is still as cute as ever.

  • Our household goods are being delivered this Friday! Woohoo! I cannot wait to have all of my kitchen stuff and my clothes. I’ve been wearing the same 5 shirts and 2 pair of jeans for the last 7 weeks- it will be nice to have some variety again (if anything fits!) Smile I am not, however, looking forward to unpacking 81 boxes. I see chaos in our future…

Glad to hear you have a car on its way... thats crazy that they wont allow imports over 5 years. Wow! And crazy that it will take another 2 weeks to get yours registered.... guess people there are just used to that sort of thing. Hopefully you guys will meet some other couples to hang out with soon! Till then I am sure you have plenty of company taking care of lil' E. Glad to hear an update on you guys! Hope you are enjoying it there so far minus the few hickups y'all have encountered! :)
