More Prayers Please

9.07.2011

I just wanted to give an update on our sweet nephew, Matthew. After performing several tests, the doctors have determined that Matthew has Acute Myeloloid Leukemia (AML). AML is the most aggressive type of leukemia which  means it also requires aggressive treatment. Matthew began his first round of chemotherapy last week and will most likely spend at least 6 months in the hospital. When we talked to Jesse’s brother yesterday he said that the doctor is pleased because Matthew is responding very well to the chemo! Please keep the prayers coming because they are definitely working.  That is about all we know right now. Obviously we are very far away and feel completely helpless because we can’t be there for our brother and sister-in-law. This is one of those times that living overseas is really awful!

I also have another prayer request. You may have heard about the terrible wild fires burning throughout Texas. I just found out this morning that my Dad and Step-Mom and my Granny lost their homes and all of their belongings in the fires. They literally got out with the clothes on their backs. I haven’t been able to talk to them yet but I know they are devastated by this loss. Please pray for them- my heart is just hurting for them and once again there is absolutely nothing I can do.

Tami- I'm still continuously praying for sweet little Matthew, as well as Gary and Barb. I'm so thankful to hear that he is responding well to the chemo! He sounds like a little fighter. Being a Lynch guy, I can't say I'm surprised. ;) Also, I am so sorry to hear about your dad and Granny's homes being lost. I'm thankful they got out ok, but so sad b/c I know they don't have their belongings anymore. I am also praying for someone else...and that's you. I know how much you want to be home w/your families right now w/all of the trials they've been facing lately, but try and remember that for whatever reason you and Jesse are exactly where you're supposed to be in this moment. You know they know you'd be there if you were able, but you're there through prayer and that speaks volumes!! :) I love you sweet friend and I'm here for you!

I am glad to hear your nephew's protocol is working, although I still would find the diagnosis unbearable!! Praying for him and your family. I am also sad to hear about your Dad, Step Mom and Grandma - I had not heard about the wild fires in Texas... I guess that is what living in Canada does to you if you dont follow the news :( But I will pray for them as well!! I know it must be hard to be away while all of this is going on, but you will get through this, just as they will ;) Stay strong!!

Continued prayers for your nephew. I can't imagine what your family is going through and I know it must be so, so hard for you to be so far away right now. (hugs

I am running the Nike Women's Marathon in October with Team in Training. All the money raised goes towards research for Lymphoma and Leukemia. My sister is a Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor and I have run this race the past 2 years in her honor. This year I add Matthew's name on my shirt and run in his honor too!
Sending lots of prayers and love to your family.
