Absolutely Terrifying (And a few randoms…)

7.06.2011

  • Last night the scariest, creepiest, most terrifying thing happened to me. I was sitting in the living room with my Mom, sister-in-law, and two nieces. I’m trying to get used to using my nursing cover for when we travel so I was feeding Emerson. I had been feeding her for about 15 minutes when I saw my Mom looking at me with eyes as big as saucers. She told me not to move and that there was a scorpion crawling on my shoulder. Of course, I immediately flipped out. I jumped off the couch, and got Emerson out from under the nursing cover. I set her down on the carpet and threw the cover off. At that point we didn’t know where the scorpion was so I picked Emerson back up. That was when we saw the scorpion (about 2 inches long) crawling on the side of the nursing cover. If you’ve ever seen a scorpion or been bit by one then I’m sure your skin is crawling right now. If not- let me just tell you- they are so, so creepy and their stings hurt so bad.  To top it off I am absolutely terrified of spiders and scorpions and having one crawl on me is probably one of my worst nightmares! I am just so glad that my baby girl didn’t get stung (or me either for that matter!) Needless to say, we are calling the exterminator today.

  • We had a laid-back, relaxing 4th of July. We didn’t get to go to the lake because my Grandmother was in the hospital. Thankfully, she got out a few days ago and is starting to feel much better. Even though we didn’t go anywhere, E got to wear all of her patriotic garb.

  • We are now in the single-digits on our countdown to Daddy’s homecoming! Emerson is so excited-  just look at that grin!

  • I did the first day of Couch to 5k yesterday. It felt so good-yet so weird- to run again. I was pretty awkward and clumsy feeling and my hips felt stiff, but I managed to complete the whole thing. I’m sure it’ll feel more natural after a few more sessions. I feel a little sore today but not as bad as I thought I would.

  • We’re going to North Carolina for a quick visit before we head back overseas. I cannot wait to see everyone! We’re also planning on checking on our house. Hopefully it still looks as good as it did when we rented it out almost a year and a half ago. I’m already starting to plan what I’ll need to take on the plane for Emerson. I think this trip will be good practice for when we make our 20+ hour journey to our next post.
