What I’ve Been Up To

3.20.2011

I’ve been a terrible blogger lately but I do have a good excuse. I’ve been doing all kinds of fun, crafty things. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the craftiest person in the world, but thanks to You Tube and internet tutorials I think I’m turning over a new leaf.
I started by making this adorable bow holder for Emerson. I had been looking for one on Etsy and found one that I loved. I decided that I could attempt to make it on my own. I’m so glad I did because I LOVE the way it turned out.

The colors are pink and brown- kind of hard to see in the first picture, but here it is in natural light.

After I finished it, I found this tutorial. It’s pretty similar in style to the one I made. Check it out if you want to make your own bow holder.
Bow Board Tutorial
Of course, after making the bow holder, I had to make some bows for our little princess. I started with the easiest- the Korker bow. I found an awesome tutorial on You Tube that demonstrated how to make the bow from start to finish. I’ve only made a few so far but I think they are so cute.

I absolutely love the little flower headbands that little girls are wearing these days. Luckily, they are super easy to make. Here are a few of the ones I made:

Aren’t they sweet?
When it came to making regular bows, it was pure trial and error. Although I found some great tutorials, I just couldn’t get my bows to look right. Finally after three days of trying I FINALLY figured out how to make the Pinwheel Bow and the Stacked Bow. These are the ones I’ve made:

The stacked bow looks pretty crooked in this picture, but it’s not quite that bad in real life- I promise! I still have a lot of learning to do and I know it will take practice before my bows are perfect, but I’m so excited about what I’ve learned so far.
I do have to give credit to my little model. She let me try every single bow on her and, of course, she looked absolutely adorable in all of them!

And finally, here is the bow holder with all of Emerson’s bows and flowers:

When I showed Jesse all of the bows I’ve been working on he wanted to know how many bows Emerson really needs. Silly guy- we all know that bows are like purses and shoes- a girl can NEVER have too many!
