Holly Jolly Blog Hop Day 2- Decor

12.10.2010

Windy Poplars

The theme for today is Christmas decor. I absolutely love decorating for Christmas. There is nothing better than coming home in the evening, plugging in the tree, and starting a fire in the fireplace.
Unfortunately, a lot of that is not possible for us this year. First of all, we weren't able to bring a lot of our Christmas decor. We had a weight limit for our household goods and my clothes and shoes took precedence over Christmas decorations (though I only got to bring half of my wardrobe) ;)
We also don't have a fireplace here. I guess that's a good thing considering it's 90 degrees everyday.
Despite these obstacles, we did do a little bit of Christmas decorating. Of course it is nothing like what we would do at home, but it does help it seem a little more Christmas-y here.

I've already shared a picture of our tree, but here it is again.
In the evening:
During the day:
The theme is Santa and the colors are red and white. I love all my cute little Santas that I have collected over the years.
Here are a few of my favorites:

This is the nativity my sweet hubby bought for me from a local street vendor. The entire thing is made from banana leaves.
Isn't it awesome?
I love how they dyed the leaves to make Mary and Joseph's robes. (Though Jesse says that Joseph kind of looks like a samurai warrior.) :)
A close-up of the animals and baby Jesus.
Although our Christmas decor isn't much too look at this year, we have so many reasons to celebrate and we are so thankful for all that God has provided us with. That being said, I can't wait until we're back in our own house and we can do some real decorating! :)
If you want to share your Christmas decor, be sure and link up!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway for a Target gift card here. The giveway ends December 12th.

That nativity set is so unique. Definitely not something you'll find everywhere. I do like it.

I also love how your tree has a theme.

I really like the shape of your tree (tall and skinny). Mine is fat and takes up a lot of room!
